Evan Delgado and Reginald Lewis honored with NJBIZ awards
Two Pathways to College Newark Advisory Board Members have received statewide recognition from NJBIZ.
Evan Delgado, vice president of programs at the Turrell Fund, has been named among the 2021 NJBIZ Forty Under 40. Delgado previously served as director of programs at the Turrell Fund, and junior associate at Rabin Martin.
Reginald Lewis, executive director of the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership and adjunct professor at Seton Hall University, has been named among the 2021 NJBIZ Education Power 50 for efforts to increase completion of higher education degrees or credentials. Lewis most recently served as executive director of the Newark City of Learning Collaborative at Rutgers University-Newark, and executive director of the Chad School Foundation.
“We congratulate Evan and Reginald on their accomplishments and look forward to their continued support of our work to prepare Newark’s public high school students of color for college admission, college graduation, and lifelong success,” said Virgil Ecton, vice president for advancement, Pathways to College. “These awards reinforce the impact of our distinguished advisors on the success of our Scholars and communities. We are thrilled to benefit from the enthusiastic and creative support of all Newark Advisory Board members.”
Delgado serves as chair of the Newark Advisory Board for Pathways to College. Both Delgado and Lewis were named to this board in 2020. The esteemed Newark Advisory Board provides strategic advice, thought leadership and community insight to increase awareness of and support for Pathways to College among Newark’s school, civic and parent audiences.
Additional members of the advisory board include the following notable figures who are actively engaged in enhancing public school education and the arts, and strengthening college opportunities for students of color:
- Wilhelmina Holder, Newark high school parent advocate
- Jeremy Johnson, arts steward and leader of public-private projects to enrich cultural activities in Newark, New Jersey and Cleveland, Ohio
- Junius Williams, attorney, educator, musician, civil rights advocate and Newark historian
