Connecting Bright Futures to a Rich Past
Scholars in Pathways to College embarked on College and Cultural Trips to continue the after-school program’s rich tradition of immersing students in historically rich environments, where they practice leadership, critical thinking, planning, and communication, with the support of our dedicated teachers. Scholars gained a deeper understanding of key figures who overcame racial barriers and significant allies in the ongoing fight for racial justice, as well as benefitting from experiential learning in the arts and sciences just hours from their homes.
As 10th grader Vinicius reflected on visiting the Johnson House Historic Site in Philadelphia (PA), “It was cool to be in the same house as some abolitionists and an underground railroad station.”
